Investigation Discovery is My SportsCenter
I always said if someone is trying to kill me, I refuse to go down without a fight. I'm scratching your face to leave some of your DNA in my nails. Kidnap me and I'm leaving clues to all the places you've taken me. Who taught me? Investigation Discovery.
Investigation Discovery is my SportsCenter. I turn it on and it has my full attention. I love supense. I love to read it, write it and of course watch it. It all started with Unsolved Mysteries; from murders mysteries to the Unexplained, I love it all. As I got older, I wondered am I a crep for watching this so much? But after some research, I'm not a creep at all. The network is purposely geared towards women. My interest stems from a platform created to emotionally connect women and allow them to put all the pieces to the crime-story puzzles together.
"It's really about the mystery," Henry S. Schleiff, Group President of Investigation Discovery reports to TheWrap.
"And women, in particular, are very intuitive, and they love the puzzle solving. And they love the idea of using their intuition – so do guys – but they love the idea of sort of saying, 'I knew it wasn't the person who you thought did it, and that the evidence pointed to. I knew all along it was someone else.'"
Discovery Communications' Investigation Discovery ranked #1 in 2014 in percentage of viewers who are satisfied with the network in a Beta Research Digital Cable Subscriber Study. For the fourth year straight, Investigation Discovery ranked #1 in female viewers ranging in ages of 18-49.
Up until 2009, Schleiff also acted as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Crown Media Holdings, Inc., As well as the owner and operator of The Hallmark Channel & Hallmark Movie Channel.
So you see, women are the intended target audience. And the informative stories could prevent someone from being a victim one day. The creation and ultimate success of this network was genuis. Keep calm and 'Satisfy your curosity.'
